When the fog rolls in

Recently I have experienced something that put me in kind of a "grey" place. I am not sure if you have ever had a trigger before. Basically something happens that makes you feel like you are back in a place of trauma. Your body physically and emotionally responds to something that it feels is there, but is not actually there (not in the same way). It's just as fun as the original trauma itself. When this happens to me it puts my mind sort of in a fog. I call it an "emotional low", its basically like a depression, you feel sort of like a zombie.

It's hard not to be angry at the person that causes this event to happen, if there is a person involved. Since your body reacts as if there is real danger, you tend to distance yourself from this person to protect yourself. In the past when this happened I never had a choice. I was younger and less in control, it also happened at work all the time.

As with fog, not much is in focus until you are standing right next to it. Some things you can't see at all until you move closer to it. It's like taking baby steps towards your goal and as you start to heal, little by little, things start to be revealed to you. Until that happens many emotions stir inside, like anger, bitterness, or fear, because it's quite scary going somewhere that you can't see.

Also with fog, this seems to happen out of nowhere, very unexpectedly. No one ever plans on fog. But then again people are also very unexpected, unpredictable creatures. Emotions and beliefs tend to do that to us. People speak out without thinking when an emotion or belief has been "attacked" or "stirred". The cycle pretty much continues as long as people think with beliefs instead of thinking of others first.

Personally, this happens all the time with people who consider themselves a Christian. It is so sad and it is complete irony that Christians seem so blind, so hypocritical, and so selfish when the person they claim to follow is not like that at all. It makes you think what is wrong with the church that it produces mass amounts of blind, selfish, hypocrites. What do you think the world would look like if Christians actually started to act like the God they served?

If, as Christians, we loved first instead of judged.

If, as Christians, we loved others before ourselves.

If, as Christians, we listened and then just stopped there. Just listen.

Christians need to stop attacking people. Just stop. Let's put love into action, because I know we can be better than this garbage.

What do you think?
